In 1913, thirteen separate Swedish businesses, all involved in graphics and related operations, joined together to form SLT.  Through numerous acquisitions, the company grew and its core activities soon included everything from book binding and paper manufacturing, to the printing of stationery, playing cards, maps, forms and printing securities; including share certificates and bonds.

By the early 1960s, SLT had an overwhelming number of competing operations and products, and in 1964, a period of dramatic structural change began.  Divisions with similar activities merged and any incompatible operations disposed of.

Main printing process(es): Litho, die-cut, recess, typo, gravure.

The purchase of an American stamp printing machine in 1920 resulted in stamps being printed by the Post Office rather than by private printers for the first time. The stamps were recess printed in continuos reels.

The PFA became a separate unit within the Swedish Post Office in 1976 and moved to the north of Stockholm in Kista that same year.

In 1983, PFA installed a specially manufactured press from Goebel of Germany. The 17-metre press can handle both recess print (up to six colours) and offset print (up to four colours), either singly or in combination. The first issued stamp from this press was the Fresh Water Snail issue of 1983.
