Established with 40% capital share from De La Rue of Great Britain, PSPC became a fully owned part of the Government of Pakistan in April 1971.

PSPC is primarily responsible for the production of currency notes for the Pakistani government and is the only organisation in the country dealing with security printing.

Other products, besides annual output of one billion stamps, include passports, national identity cards, cheques and revenue documents.

In 2003, from the Year of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah issue, stamps were printed by Pakistan Post Office Foundation Press (Security Division), Karachi. However, this changeover did not last long and in 2006 printing reverted to the earlier printer, PSPC.

The APO (Asian Productivity Organization) Production Unit is a government-controlled corporation and is a fully integrated printing facility with both sheet-fed and web offset printing presses that can handle jobs ranging from single colour to four colours.

A non-stock corporation organised in 1974 by virtue of its membership in the Asian Productivity Organisation based in Tokyo, Japan, APO originally served as the printing arm of its parent organisation.  Printing of Bibles, books, journals, reports, brochures, posters, continuous forms, receipts, newsletters and stamps all full within APOs capabilities.

Foreign Trade Enterprise ARS POLONA started its activities in 1953 and was the first in Poland, and one of the first firms in the Central and Eastern Europe, dealing with export and import of books and other press related items.
 
A publicity brochure records "printing stamps for foreign posts" as one of many activities.  These include silver jewellery, coins, medals, stamps and books.

Polska (ex Panstwowa) Wytwornia Papierow Wartosciowych is the main state security-printing house in Poland operating under the supervision of the Ministry of the Treasury.

Apart from stamps, PWPW prints excise bands, banknotes, IDs, documents for foreigners, including visas and permanent residence cards, cheque books for Wielkopolski Bank Kredytowy and Pekao SA Bank as well as bingo cards.  At the turn of the Millennium, the printing house was also preparing to launch the production of new identity cards, driver's licences, car registration cards and licence plates.

In 1948 and in 1955 they purchased new rotary printing presses, the latter from WIFAG of Switzerland, the former probably from Goebels of Germany.

INCM is the result of the merging in 1972, of Imprensa Nacional (The Official Printing Office) and Casa da Moeda (The Mint). The long history of these companies makes INCM the repository of some of the oldest industrial establishments in the country.
