The largest private printing press in Ethiopia is the Artistic Press which occupies a new modern factory in Addis Ababa.

There are several government, private, and mission presses in Addis Ababa. The largest government press is the Berhanena Selam Printing Press which opened an eight-storey building in 1965 with the most up-to-date presses.

It was still around at the end of 2000, having hit the headlines by refusing to publish its newspaper for a few days as a protest against the price of paper.
