Founded in 1931, with its first stamp production two years later, the Postens Trykkeri has continued to produce almost all of the stamps required by the Danish Post Office, having taken over from H. H. Thiele.

Printing press installation occurred during August 1981 at a new complex in Ballerup, a suburb of Copenhagen. Much of the reason for the success of the move is attributable to the then head of the works, Ricardo Sundgaard. Stamp production began on 23 November 1981 with the Queen Margrethe definitive stamps on machines with the ability to combine recess, photogravure and lithography on the one stamp.

A fine presentation on the art of stamp engraving and production can be found on the site of Martin Morck. Go to: http://www.martinmorck.com/presentation-start-ram.htm

H. H. Thiele Bogtrykkeri, Copenhagen.
First stamp(s) traced by compiler: 1851 for Denmark.

The first stamp issue of Denmark is generally attributed to H. H. Thiele, although the stamp catalogues state: "..probably by Thiele".
.
The task of designing Denmark's first stamp was assigned to royal court engraver Martinus William Ferslew, whose activities also included designing and printing bank notes for the National Bank.
.
Ferslew enlisted the help of printer Andreas Jeppe Schmidt Thiele to produce the many printing blocks needed to print the sheets. Like Ferslew, Thiele worked on bank notes for the National Bank. When Ferslew died suddenly of pneumonia on 21 April 1852, Andreas Thiele and the family firm H. H. Thiele's Printshop assumed responsibility for the printing of Danish stamps.
.
Thiele's printing works was the postal service's regular stamp printer until 1932. After that, the Post Office bought its own machines with which to print stamps. This new printing set-up operated under the name Postens Trykkeri.

Santo Domingo is a totally horizontal city which has been growing through the years crossing its natural borders (Ozama River on the East, Haina River on the West, and Isabela River on the North) to become the biggest metropolis of the Caribbean and one of the most extensive in America."
